For over 100 years we’ve had a love affair with the humble beach hut. Having your own private space with miles of glorious coast stretching out before you… magic. Whether they’re old weather-beaten sheds or modern design classics like the Overstrand, we love them to bits. We fill them with little creature comforts. We fill them with our friends! Go on; invite them round, pull up a Hemingway-designed deck chair on your own private beach hut balcony and plan your next adrenaline fuelled adventure. Or perhaps, curl up with a good book, glancing occasionally down at the sun-kissed shore.
Take your pick... From 31 individually themed beach huts, available to purchase on a 25-year lease. Varying in size, all feature electrical points and running hot and cold water. Suitable for day-use only, the huts are arranged on the first and second floor of the eastern portion of the Overstrand building and feature large balconies and French patio doors. The complex of huts are accessed via communal locked entrances and are covered by security cameras. A communal shower is also available for use of private beach hut owners only. A further 28 huts on the western wing of the building will be available for casual hire in advance from the Seafront Office.
The Overstrand beach huts will be completed by Easter 2009 and will shortly be available to purchase off plan. Prices and launch date are still to be confirmed. Demand will be high, so to register your interest and obtain your copy of the sales brochure please contact:

The Boscombe Overstrand redevelopment sits at the heart of the UK’s most innovative seafront attraction: Europe’s first artificial surf reef. The Overstrand beach front complex, designed in 1958, is being transformed into a year-round leisure facility catering to watersports enthusiasts in the winter and traditional beach visitors in the summer. The development is situated on ‘the best beach in Britain’ as voted by readers of Coast Magazine in 2008. This mid 20th century modernist building is being restored and re-imagined and will feature the Urban Reef café on the ground floor with the glass fronted Urban Reef restaurant on the first floor overlooking the surf reef and award winning beaches. The Sorted surf shop, surf school with equipment hire, RNLI and Voluntary beach lifeguard station, public showers, toilets and changing facilities, beach office and events office will feature along the ground floor.
